GUWAHATI: The Amguri Nabanirman Samitee, ANS has submitted a letter to the Prime Minister urging the Prime Minister to order a high-level inquiry into alleged embezzlement of funds of Indira Awas Yojana and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) under DRDA Golaghat.
In the memorandum, the Samitee alleged that during the implementation of the schemes Indira Awas Yojana and MGNGREGA under the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) in the Golaghat district from the financial year 2009-10 to the financial year 2018-19, crores of rupees were looted by officials. This fund misappropriation came to light in a report of the Accountant General’s office.
The Samitee urged the Prime Minister to order a high-level probe into the matter and to take legal action against the officials who were involved in the embezzlement of funds of the schemes. The Samitee also demanded that all the movable and immovable property acquired by these officials using the misappropriated fund money should be seized.
