Recruitment of Assistant Professors & Librarians:

GUWAHATI: The Higher Education Department has instructed the principals of colleges concerned in the State to charge a uniform application fee of Rs 1,500 from each candidate applying for appointment as Assistant Professor or Librarian in their respective colleges against valid sanctioned posts, apparently in response to reports that some college governing bodies are charging high application fees from aspiring candidates.
Further, vide a letter, the Director of Higher Education has asked the principals to refund any amount in excess of Rs 1,500 which may have been already collected by them as application fee.
The letter also asked the principals to accept online applications as well, in view of possible delay in the postal delivery system.
It may be mentioned that the Higher Education Department has already laid down terms and conditions for the ensuing recruitment of Assistant Professors and librarians against valid sanctioned posts.
These include fixation of upper-age limit of candidates at 38 years for general candidates, with a relaxation of five years for ST and SC candidates, three years for OBC and MOBC candidates and ten years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
It is also stipulated that candidates have to acquire necessary qualifications as on the last date for submission of applications. Eligibility like M Phil, PhD/seminar paper/publication can be acquired and submitted on the date of interview and not beyond that date.
Further, the governing bodies of the colleges concerned will have to ascertain that the post is not sub judice and not already withdrawn by the Government.
