Guwahati: Assam Finance, Health, Education and PWD Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his best wishes to the former Chief Secretary of Assam, Sanjay Krishna on his retirement. As Kumar Sanjay Krishna retired on October 31, Sarma thanked him for his hard work and leading the bureaucracy during these tough times. Extending his gratitude, Sarma wrote:

"I place on record sincere appreciation and gratitude to @KrSanjayKrishna for leading the bureaucracy as Chief Secretary during a turbulent phase in last few months. His hard work and leadership during the COVID times is appreciable. My best wishes"

Kumar Sanjay Krishna held the position of Chief Secretary of Assam for a period of ten months since December 2019. A 1985 batch IAS officer, Sanjay Krishna had to deal with various challenges during his tenure, starting from the anti-CAA protests to the global Coronavirus pandemic.

Kumar Sanjay Krishna is succeeded by Jishnu Barua, who is an Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer from the batch of 1988. Barua took over the charges as the Chief Secretary of the state on October 31. He will retire on September 2022.
