GUWAHATI: The All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union (High Court Group) has urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to appoint the Sanyogi Sanyogi Siksha Karmis as pre-primary teachers by honouring the order issued by the Gauhati High Court on June 27, 2022.
The single-judge bench of the High Court comprising Justice Lanusungkum Jamir issued the order for the appointment of Sanyogi Siksha Karmis as pre-primary teachers based on the resolutions taken at a meeting between the All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union and the government on February 23, 2016.
All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union (High Court Group) general secretary Shirazul Haque said, "We served as Sanyogi Siksha Karmis under the Sarba Siksha Abhijan (SSA), Assam from 2005. We brought school dropouts back to school. However, the government abolished the posts of Sanyogi Siksha Karmi under SSA, Assam in 2012, and since then we are not in service. On February 23, 2016, we discussed the issue with the then Education Minister Sarat Barkataky. The meeting resolved to accord priority to Sanyogi Siksha Karmis as teachers for appointment in Ka-shreni. On August 31 and September 20, 2022, the then Education Minister asked the Sanyogi Siksha Karmis to take DElEd (Diploma in Elementary Education). After that, 1,788 Sanyogi Siksha Karmis acquired Diploma in Elementary Education. In 2021, the department conducted a special TET for Sanyogi Siksha Karmis after their proper verification. However, only 3.9 per cent of the Sanyogi Siksha Karmis could qualify for the TET. However, the government has not appointed qualified candidates even today. After that, we moved to the Gauhati High Court which issued its order on June 27, 2022, directing the government to appoint us as pre-primary teachers. Now, we urge the government to honour the Court order by appointing us as pre-primary teachers."
