GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department and the Government of India have issued a notice of heavy rainfall for the next few days. A cyclonic circulation lies over East Assam and its neighbourhoods between 1.5 km and 2.1 km above mean sea level. A trough runs from sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim to Chhattisgarh across Bihar and Jharkhand at 3.1 km above mean sea level. The trough now runs roughly along longitude 90°E to the north of latitude 20°N and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

There will be light to moderate rainfall in the various states. Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh. Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds up to 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Meghalaya.
