GUWAHATI: Assam's Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has directed the DGM of the Guwahati Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) to resolve all issues of the bus depot, including manpower deployment, at soon as possible.
The Minister issued the directive after paying a surprise visit to the ISBT late on Saturday night.
During his visit to the ISBT, Suklabaidya inspected the condition of the bus terminal and also interacted with passengers to take stock of the infrastructure available at the bus terminal.
The Minister accepted that the basic facilities for the passengers and overall condition of the Guwahati ISBT were in bad shape. Significantly, none of the staff of the bus terminus was present on duty during the Minister's visit. He also noticed during his visit that the toilets of the ISBT were locked.
Suklabaidya said that the staff of the ISBT who have failed to fulfil their duties to maintain the bus terminal and also remained absent from work will soon face action.
He added, "Issues related to security and hygiene must be addressed at the earliest."
