GUWAHATI: The BJP Assam Pradesh has termed the grand alliance in the State stitched by the Congress with the AIUDF, Left parties and others as an 'alliance of Mughals'.
Addressing the media here on Thursday, State BJP's chief spokesperson Rupam Goswami said, "The individual parties of this alliance never spoke or worked in the interest of the indigenous people of Assam. The Congress did oppose the Assam Agitation in which over 855 people were martyred. And the CPI and the CPI-M did support China during the 1961 Chinese invasion of India. The AIUDF, on the other, is born in the backdrop of the abrogation of the IM(DT) Act. The Congress' platform is a forum of the Mughals that is always against the interest of the indigenous people of Assam. The forces that are known for their anti-Assam activities have got into a huddle.
"It's the organizational strength of the BJP that will make it to Dispur in the 2021 Assembly election in the State. The party has 39 organizational districts, 400 mandals, 6430 shakti kendras, 28,000 booth committees, 3.50 lakh page in-charges and over 42 lakh workers.
"Under Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the State has been making strides. Earlier an overbridge took not less than a decade. Under this government, such an overbridge at Ganeshguri in Guwahati has been completed in 15 months only. The government is acting against corruption of any sorts. This government has given land pattas to one lakh people and is going to provide such pattas to another one lakh soon. Beneficiaries are being given relief through various schemes.
