GUWAHATI: The Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabha, Assam (ITSSA) on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressing gratitude for setting up of the Directorate of Boro Medium Education and Other Tribal Languages, Assam. The ITSSA also welcomed the government's decision to adopt the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

ITSSA president Govinda Taid expressed thanked Sarma for taking steps to set up the Directorate of Boro Medium Education and Other Tribal Languages, Assam which will be inaugurated on Saturday.

Lauding the Centre for adopting the NEP-2020, Taid said, "The present Government of India headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken bold steps to adopt the NEP-2020 which is the first education policy of the 21st Century. It aims at preservation, protection and development of home languages of India by way of making them as Medium of Instruction (MOI) at primary level."

ITSSA secretary general Kamalakanta Mushahary stated that in Assam, the tribal languages so far neglected by all the previous governments of Assam for the last 72 years of Independence, will now definitely be able to get justice.
