Jalukbari Police arrested one person for looting temples

GUWAHATI: The Jalukbari Police, on Tuesday, arrested a man in connection to the recent temple looting incidents in Lankeswar and Dharapur.

The accused, Rezak Ali, was held by the public from a residence in Dharapur Chariali and was later handed over to the police. The police have recovered coins of several thousand rupees and equipments which were used to break the locks, from the accused.

The Lankeswar Dham Managing Committee confirmed that Ali was involved in the theft incidents after checking the CCTV footages of the temples. According to reports, in the day time Ali pretends to be a mentally unstable person to avoid any suspicion against him.
