GUWAHATI: How come a Jharkhand youth have access to details of candidates who have taken recruitment examinations in the Assam Health department? The Crime Branch is now investigating it to delve deep into its core.

A gang from Jharkhand has been demanding cash from candidates who have taken recruitment examinations in the State Health department. With the issue reported by the media, a team of investigators from Assam went to Jharkhand, nabbed Kamesh Pal and brought him to Guwahati on Saturday. He was arrested at Jamshedpur on Thursday.

Kamesh was produced before the CJM (Chief Judicial Magistrate) Court on Saturday. The Court sent him to two-day police remand.

According to the police, Kamesh telephoned a number of candidates who took recruitment examinations in the Health department. He even got cash from a few candidates.

Police sources said that Kamesh convinced candidates by 'disclosing their secured marks' against the cut-off mark.

The investigators are trying to unearth if Kamesh has hacked the documents of the State Health department or he has any nexus with anyone from the department.
