GUWAHATI: As many as 4,511 primary teachers who got their appointment letters on January 30, 2021 at Khanapara playground rue that they have not been getting their salaries since their joining.

The Sadou Asom Betan Bonchito Kormoroto Prathamik Shikshak Sanstha president Hemanjali Bhuyan Dutta said in a statement that "we had to work without salaries for 20-25 years and underwent basic teachers' training. However, this government regularized our posts as per their assurance given before the last Assembly election. Even though our jobs have been regularized, we're not getting salaries. It is also not clear if we'll get salaries before the election or not. It is said that the Education department hasn't yet sent Budget to the Treasury. If we're not paid salaries, the regularization of our jobs will be of no use. We demand immediate release of our salaries."
