GUWAHATI: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended the Rozgar Mela in Guwahati, where he interacted with the successful candidates who joined various departments and organisations of the government.

A total of 211 candidates from the 12 states of east India, including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Orissa, were physically handed over appointment letters to join various departments like the Income Tax Department of CBDT, the Assam Rifles, the CRPF, OIL, AIIMS, GSI, SBI, FCI, CGST, the Department of Post, Indian Railways, ISRO, LIC, and others.

The minister also called upon the candidates to commit themselves to the service of the nation and become ‘Karmayogi’ as India moves ahead towards becoming Atmanirbhar Bharat by 2047. Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said, “Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has become one of the strongest nations in the world. As all of us work together with complete dedication and commitment towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat, as envisioned by the Prime Minister, I call upon all of you who join in this beautiful journey to become Karmayogis and commit themselves to the cause of nation-building.”

Encouraging the newly appointed employees of the government, Sarbananda Sonowal further encouraged them to do yoga regularly to have a fit, happy, and beautiful body and mind. He added, “Yoga is the science of life. All of us must embrace this wonder of our rich heritage and become healthy and happy. Not only does yoga help you live better, but it will also improve your strength to focus better and perform your tasks efficiently. Today, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has become a global wellness movement. Heeding the call by PM Modi, the UN declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. With the growing popularity of Yoga across the world over the last nine years, Yoga Day has become the most popular event of the UN, which yet again proves the magnificence of India’s heritage and its intent to enrich the quality of lives of the people.”
