GUWAHATI: The district-wise orientation training programme for the Haj pilgrimage 2023 will start on May 6 and conclude on May 11.

The Joint State Haj Committee of Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland will hold the training programme at Haji Mushafirkhana in Guwahati on May 6, when 282 pilgrims from Kamrup (M), 301 from Kamrup, 39 from East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya, and 20 from Nagaland will take part.

The committee will hold such a training programme at Jamiat Hall in Hoiborgaon, where 368 pilgrims from the Nagaon district will take part. The day (May 6) will also witness another training programme at Hafizia Madrassa in the Goalpara district, where 238 pilgrims from the district will take part. The committee will also hold a training programme at Makaz Academy in the Lakhimpur district on May 6, in which 156 pilgrims from the district will take part. The committee will hold yet another training programme on May 6 at Kanishali Markaz in the Karimganj district, where 864 pilgrims from the district will take part.

On May 7, the committee will hold a training programme at Markajul Maruf, where 143 pilgrims from Hojai and three from Karbi Anglong will take part. May 7 will also witness three other such training camps: one each at Town Muktab at Nalbari for 135 pilgrims from Nalbari and 22 from Baksa; Bidyapara Masjid at Dhubri for 305 pilgrims from the district; and at Graham Bazar Idgah Maidan for 76 pilgrims from Dibrugarh and 28 from Tinsukia districts.

The committee will hold such a training programme at Mangaldai Youth Club on May 8. As many as 240 pilgrims from Darrang and 31 from Udalguri will take part in it. Apart from this, the committee will also hold four more such camps at Hazrat Omar Academy at Howli for 297 pilgrims from Barpeta; Bilasipara Jame Masjid for the pilgrims from Bilasipara; Langar Shah Bhawan at Sandmari in Golaghat for 50 pilgrims from the district; and Kabarband ME Madrassa for pilgrims from Patharkandi.

On May 9, the committee will hold training programmes at Mushafirkhana Idgah Maidan at Tezpur for 85 pilgrims of Sonitpur and the pilgrims of Biswanath; at Hafizia Madrassa at Rangiya for the pilgrims of Rangiya; at Joypur ME Madrassa in Kokrajhar for 91 pilgrims of the district; at Ashiana Hall in Jorhat for 119 pilgrims of the district; and at Kalain Senior Madrassa for the pilgrims of Kalain.

May 10 will see five such training camps: one each at Mori Musalman Gaon Bara Masjid in the Morigaon district for 182 pilgrims; Bongaigaon ME Madrassa for 151 pilgrims of Bongaigaon and 22 pilgrims from Chirang; at district Markaz Masjid for 49 pilgrims of West Garo Hill and five from South West Garo Hill; and at Nazrul Saadan Auditorium at Hailakandi for 555 pilgrims from the district.

May 11 will see three training camps at Hatisingimari in South Salmara-Mankachar for 134 pilgrims of the district, at Markaz Bhawan at Malurgram in Silchar for the 1080 pilgrims from the Cachar district, and at Deurail Title Madrassa at Badarpur for the pilgrims of Badarpur.

As many as 6,302 pilgrims, including 4,281 males and 2,021 females, will leave for Mecca from May 21 to June 6, 2023.
