GUWAHATI/DIMORIA: Jorabat Police nabbed a gang of five dacoits on Wednesday night who were coming to Guwahati with the intention of loot and robbery.

The gang was on its way to Guwahati in an auto rickshaw (AS25 FC 0139). The gang was apprehended from below the flyover at Jorabat at around midnight. This gang, said police sources, used intoxicating substances on their victims before carrying out the robbery. Police recovered sharp weapons, along with other incriminating items, from their possession.

The five dacoits arrested are Moni Kalita (40) of Boroma in Nalbari district; Deben Boro (24) of Amtola Basti in Sonapur; Harichandra Dev Barma (23) of Amtola Basti in Sonapur; Nasir Ali (30) of Hagarapara under Basistha PS; and Biki Chetry (29) of Surutary village under Basistha PS.

Among them, Moni Kalita was a driver working for APTF (Assam Police Task Force) while Biki Chetry had just been released from jail on bail 2-3 days ago.
