DIMORIA: With the approaching date of the second phase of Lok Sabha poll, independent candidate for the Guwahati parliamentary seat, Junmoni Devi Khaund is fiercely campaigning around the Sonapur area.
Prioritizing her main issue, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB), Khaund claimed that her prime focus is to protect the rights of the indigenous. “I appeal to the people to vote so that I can protect the indigenous identity of Assam and the Assamese.”
Spitting fire on both parties of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Khaund charged that both the parties are toying with the feelings of the indigenous, leaving the people of Assam dissatisfied. “In greed of power, AGP joined hands with BJP, which is quite transparent for anyone to understand”, she said. While addressing a rally in Nazirakhat, Sonapur on Tuesday, Khaund accused the Congress party of trying to woo in voters by constantly taking up the CAB cause. “I am keen to know that during all the CAB protests, how many did the Congress fielded candidate for Guwahati constituency participate in”, Khaund questioned.
