GUWAHATI: Kamrup (M) District Administration is gearing up to celebrate Independence Day for three days on August 13, 14 and 15 in the State. On the first day, a cultural programme will be organized in the evening.

On the second day, a quiz competition on India’s Freedom Movement will organized along with sports meet in every schools, colleges and universities, a drug awareness campaign/street plays, an Independence Day run for unity for students and citizens in every district, and a peace rally followed by lighting of lamps in front of statues of Gandhi and other freedom fighters.

On the third day, maximum participation of freedom fighters, NGOs, students, leaders of all communities and religion are to observe the ceremonial flag hoisting. Hoisting of the National Flag by PRI, felicitation of personalities related to Mann Ki Baat, etc. While addressing a press meet, DC Kamrup (M) Biswajeet Pegu said, “As per the Chief Minister’s directives, the 2 pm show on India’s freedom movement in all movie halls across the State is to allow students in without charging the admission fee on August 15.”
