GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metro District Administration has declared a 'Protected Area' in GS Road, Guwahati.

According to an order issued by Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, the 'Protected Area' is covered by—

East: Southside of GS Road starting from Ganeshguri Flyover to Super Market Police Point.

South: 60 feet road starting from Super Market Police Point to Last Gate.

West: From Last Gate along the RP Road up to the entry point of Assam Legislative Assembly.

North: From Ganesh Mandir up to Ganeshguri Chariali.

"No person or group of persons, except the bonafide residents and public servants, shall enter into or stay in or pass over or loiter in or around the scheduled area in the vicinity thereof without prior permission from the Kamrup Metro District Magistrate or any officer duly authorized by him on his behalf or the Commissioner of Police, or the Assam Legislative Assembly Secretary or an officer duly authorized by him," the order read.

"In exercise of powers conferred upon me U/S SE read with Section 2 of the Assam Maintenance of Publix Order Act, 1947 do hereby order and declare the scheduled area as Protected Area under Section 8 of the aforesaid Act with effect from July 5 until further order. Violation of this order by any person shall be liable to be punished under Sub-Section (5) of Section 8 F of the Act," added Pegu.
