GUWAHATI: Dakshin Borsojai Maidam Durga Puja Committee at Lalmati in Guwahati in continuing their initiative to inspire and encourage the progressive farmers of the state and to attract the younger generation to the agriculture sector celebrated the ‘Kati Bihu’ in the traditional way. The organizers with a view to take the city dwellers to the traditional celebration of the ‘Kati Bihu’ in rural Assam, for the first time in the locality of the city, arranged for lighting the ‘Akash Bonti’ in the puja complex on Friday evening.

Social activist, ideal agri- entrepreneur and financial activist Babul Chandra Boro ceremonially lit the ‘Akash Bonti’ and lifted it to the top of a pole. All the office-bearers and members of the Puja Committee attended the ‘Kati Bihu’ celebration where the organizers also offered hearty felicitation to Babul Chandra Boro. Media person Bhargab Kumar Das and Ganesh Dutta, a beauty pageant of International repute Kiran Boro, women activist Babita Boro and Shubhalakhsmi Kataki also attended the function anchored by Hiren Saharia of the Puja Committee. Mention may be made here that the Dakshin Borsojai Durga Puja Committee earlier on the day of Bijoya Dashami, offered felicitation to a national award for best women agri- entrepreneur recipient ‘Pothar Konya’ Nabanita Das with the humble initiative to encourage the younger generation in the agriculture sector adopting the organic and scientific method.

The children of the Gadhiapara village of Mangaldai enthralled the audience with their exceptional performance of traditional ‘Nagara Naam’ and added a new attraction to the ‘Kati Bihu’ celebration.
