GUWAHATI: Garchuk police could trace the boy of Raju Goswami, the prime accused in the Lalung Gaon murder case, from Maligaon on Sunday. Raju Goswami ran away with his 10- to 12-year-old son allegedly after killing his wife. After Raju’s confession, the police were able to recover his son.

According to the police source, Raju, after killing his wife, kept his son safe at his sister’s residence. Later, the police asked Raju’s sister to keep the boy with them. Raju Goswami is originally from Kolkata, but he has lived in Pandu since his birth. Also, as per sources, Raju is his original name, not Somen. One of his sisters resides in Sualkuchi, and the other in Maligaon.

It may be mentioned that Raju Goswami was arrested by Garchuk police from the Lalmati area on Friday night. A case was registered against the accused at Garchuk Police Station (Case No. 157/23) under Section 120(b)/302/201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

After he killed his second wife, Mrinmoy Malang, he ran from the rented house and kept his son in Maligaon. The police arrested him when he was about to run from the site.
