Man arrested, charged with murder in Sonapur

GUWAHATI: Sonapur Police on Sunday morning received information regarding a murder in the Jugdol area of Sonapur. Immediately, the in-charge OC of Sonapur PS went to the scene of crime and found that one Prafulla Bora had killed one Ramen Kathar with a dao and an iron rod.

The accused Prafulla Bora concealed the body near the jungle behind his house. Initially, the accused denied committing murder, but later on after thorough examination, the accused confessed and led the police team to the body. Preliminary inquiry revealed that both these persons knew each other. On Saturday evening, the victim went to the house of the accused which was locked. He somehow opened the door and entered the house of the accused. On return, the accused found the victim inside his house without permission, had a heated argument and in a fit of rage, Prafulla Bora hit the victim Ramen Kather with an iron rod and a dao. The victim succumbed to his injuries.

The wife of the accused tried to prevent the whole incident but in vain. The police team arrested accused Prafulla Bora and recovered the murder weapons from his possession. The weapons were seized in presence of independent witnesses. The body was sent for postmortem examination.
