GUWAHATI: Preparations are underway on a war-footing for the ensuing election to the Gauhati Municipal Corporation (GMC), with a meeting being held at the office of Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha here on Friday to fine-tune the arrangements.

The meeting, presided over by Jha, discussed preparation of the voters list, reservation of seats and storage of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The Deputy Commissioner advocated creation of an election-related App for the convenience of the voters.

The draft electoral rolls of the GMC will be published on February 11 and any claims and objections can be filed on February 18. Claims and objections will be disposed of within February 25 and the final voter list will be published onMarch 5.

Friday's meeting was attended, among others, by additional deputy commissioner (Election) Dhrubajyoti Hazarika, municipal secretary Aditya Gogoi and the circle officers of the Guwahati and Dispur revenue circles.
