GUWAHATI: Key officials from various departments met at the Janata Bawan on Monday to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Ambubachi Mela 2023. Officials from the tourism department, district administration, and several line departments were present at this meeting. It is important to note that the Ambubachi Mela of Assam is one of the biggest congregations of devotees from across the country and even beyond in the northeastern part of the country and plays a pivotal role in the religious tourism sector of the country. Several aspects, including accommodation, transportation, water supply, health care, sanitation, security arrangements, etc., were discussed in the meeting so that all the departments could coordinate to ensure the grand success of the event.
The meeting was attended by Pallab Gopal Jha, DC Kamrup (M), Padmapani Bora, Secretary Tourism and MD ATDC, Kabindra Prasad Sarma, Bordoloi Maa Kamakhya Temple, and Himadri Sarma, Sarudoloi of Maa Kamakhya Temple, among many other dignitaries.
