Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scam: Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell grills three

GUWAHATI: The officials with the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell interrogated three people in regard to the Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund scam in the state. Three members, including the secretary of the construction committee, were questioned today by the officials.

Meanwhile, none of the suspended ACS officials, including Sharmistha Borah, Hemanta Kumar Dutta, Munindra Bordoloi, and Sukanya Bora, appeared for questioning. Although Sharmistha Borah had applied for anticipatory bail, the Gauhati High Court dismissed the same. The court will hear the permanent bail plea in connection with the case on May 22 and has directed the police to submit the case diary on the same date.
