GUWAHATI: A newly-constructed Skill Development Training Centre building on the premises of Assam Engineering Institute (AEI), Chandmari here was inaugurated by Commerce and Industries Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on Friday.

Present at the inaugural function were Power Grid Executive Director, NERTS Shillong Ravindra Kumar Tyagi and officials of the Assam Skill Development Mission, PWD (Building).

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd had sanctioned an amount Rs. 1.48 crore for the construction of the Training Centre. The training centre is aimed at imparting various employment-oriented vocation and short-term skill development programmes to benefit youths.

Addressing the gathering, AC Kalita, Principal of Assam Engineering Institute, welcomed the CSR Initiative of Powergrid. Patowary stressed the need for providing training to youths for self-employment and stated that Assam Skill Development Mission would assist in all efforts of the training centre at AEI to impart appropriate skills training.
