Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury visits onion, potato shops

GUWAHATI: State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury, accompanied by Secretary Supplies, Director Supplies and other officers visited Fancy Bazar's potato and onion shops on Sunday to check proper distribution of the two commodities in all the wards of Kamrup Metro.

Supply officers and inspectors themselves accompanied the vehicles for distribution in the fair price shops in different areas of the city. While potato is being sold at a wholesale at Rs 24/kg, onion is sold at Rs 23/kg.

The KCC (Kamrup Chamber of Commerce) appealed to all the retailers to sell in retail maximum at Rs 30/kg onion and potato.

Sufficient potato and onion are available all over the State. The KCC requests to the people not to go for panic buying, a press release issued by KCC president MP Jain said.
