GUWAHATI: Minister of Education, Assam, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, launched three web-based applications in a programme held at the conference hall of the office of Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA), at Kahilipara on Sunday. Developed by Samagra Shiksha Assam, these web-based applications will be used for stock monitoring, information and communication technologies (ICT) monitoring, and bill tracking.

The SSA, Assam has developed a stock monitoring system that will monitor the receipt and distribution of these materials to schools. As per the entitlement of the RTE Act, various items and materials like free text books, play materials, activity books, handbooks, teaching learning materials, calendars, registers, board materials, crayons, furniture, bridge materials, an evaluation workbook, a children's progress report card, stationary items, etc. are being provided to schools for the students. The usage of this web application will help to keep a record of all the items dispatched and received. This application will help in monitoring the stock positions from the central level to the destination.

Large numbers of ICT materials and digital equipment have been provided to the schools for better utilization and maintenance to focus on the extensive use of technology in teaching and learning, increasing access, and improving educational planning and management that NEP 2020 has focused on. This application will allow the school authority to update the status of systems and the subsequent utilisation of them by the students on a monthly basis. In case of any technical glitch or hardware issue, an auto-generated email will be sent to the service provider immediately for rectification and replacement of the system as and when required.

To make the bill processing system transparent and in fast-track mode, the SSA has developed the bill tracking system, as the bills and release payments at the State Mission Office, Samagra Shiksha, were earlier done manually. Under this bill tracking system, the dashboard will show the status of the bills received and the actions taken by the assigned officer. Further, there are two indications that if any bill is pending beyond 15 or 30 days, it requires immediate action and clearance by the assigned official.
