Minor sexually assaulted by landlord in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: A sexual assault case came to the forefront when a minor girl aged between 10 to 11 years was allegedly raped by her landlord in the Sweeper Patty area of Bamunimaidam Railway Colony on Tuesday.

According to sources, the accused is identified as Rakesh Baspo, the owner of the residence where the victim's family was staying as tenants. The incident took place when the parents of the victim went out for work, leaving the daughter at the owner's residence. Taking the opportunity, the owner raped the minor.

The family was living as tenants for the last two to three months. In connection with this, a case (291/2023) has been registered at Geetanagar Police Station.

Meanwhile, a group of women from the Sweeper Patty area gheraoed the Geetanagar Police Station and alleged that the victim was lying under the pressure of her mother.
