Miscreants attack Mother-Daughter Duo in Guwahati’s Panjabari, Admitted in GNRC Hospital

Guwahati: In a sensational incident, unidentified miscreants attacked mother-daughter duo with sharp weapons on Tuesday night in Guwahati’s Panjabari area.

The incident had sparked sensation in the area.

As per reports, miscreants armed with sharp weapons barged into the residence of Urvasi Koibatra and attacked her along with her daughter Thapona Koibatra at around 9.30 pm near Ganesh Mandir.

Both the mother and her daughter had sustained severe injuries on their bodies and were rushed to GNRC Hospital at Guwahati for better medication.

However, the mother reportedly succumbed to her injuries later in the Hospital.

Also, local people in the area had informed that a group of miscreants barged inside the house of the lady and carried out the attack.

An investigation in connection to the matter has been carried by Satgaon police.

On the other hand, family sources informed, the injured daughter had identified the group of miscreants who attacked her and her mother.

According to the girl, the group of attackers consisted of four members including two women.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two suspects in connection to the matter while the two suspected attackers were reportedly absconding.

According to the brother of the deceased, the unidentified miscreants had demanded a sum of Rs 10 lakhs from the victim family.

Police suspected that the attack was executed as the family failed to pay the demanded money.

It is to be noted that recently three members of a family were killed by unidentified miscreants in Mukhigaon village located under Fakiragram Police Station under Kokrajhar District on last Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Tipul Rai (34), Moromi Rai (25), Anjumoni Rai (3), however, elder daughter of Tipul Rai namely Kabita Rai was reported safe.

The matter came to light after local people spotted the half-naked body of Moromi Rai (wife) of Tipul Rai and Anjumoni Rai (younger daughter) near the verandah of their residence.

Locals also recovered the body of Tipul Roy inside the residence.
