GUWAHATI: Only around 30,000 out of 8,13,968 applications submitted under Mission Basundhara in Assam remain to be disposed of as on date. Nevertheless, the State Government has directed all districts administration and Circle officers to dispose of the pending applications before May 10 next, which will be the first anniversary of the tenure of the incumbent Government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma.

It may be mentioned that Mission Basundhara is aimed at reducing the pendency in updation of land records, through mission mode accelerated disposal of services sought by citizens, and creating an ease-of-doing-business environment in the land management system.

According to sources in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, a programme will be held on May 8 here to mark the successful completion of the ongoing phase of the mission. The programme is likely to be attended by the Chief Minister and departmental Minister Jogen Mohon.

Several awards will be presented to best-performing ground-level officers and staff of the department at the programme in recognition of their contribution towards making the mission successful.
