New Gauhati University officers' body formed

GUWAHATI: In the Annual General Body meeting of Gauhati University Officers Association (GUOA) held on Monday at the university campus, a new executive body was formed for the session 2022-23 with Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Students' Welfare, as president and Dipika Choudhury, Assistant Librarian, KKH Library, GU as general secretary.

Jnanendra Kumar Mahanta and Sanjib Baruah were elected as vice- presidents of GUOA, while Bikash Dutta was elected as the treasurer and Dr Rituparna Borah was elected as sports and cultural secretary.

Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique, Vice Chancellor of GU, and Dr HK Nath, Registrar, GU attended the opening session of the meeting of GUOA, stated a press release.

The annual journal of the GUOA, 'Satirtha', was released by Prof handique on the occasion. In his speech Prof Handique mentioned that officers play a vital role for greater development of the university and a holistic environment should be created for progress and improvement of the university in every field.

A prize distribution ceremony was later held wherein prizes were distributed to all the winners of last annual sports of the association.
