GUWAHATI: The double murder case by Bandana Kalita and two of her accomplices took a new twist with the mysterious disappearance of a student staying on rent in the adjacent room of Amarjyoti Dey in the Amarawati Apartment in the Narengi area. A forensics team investigated the student’s room and collected some evidence. He is a student at a private university.

After being held in police custody for four days, the police produced the prime accused in the case of Bandana Kalita before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court today. She was then taken into police custody for six more days.

The police recovered some body parts suspected to be those of Amarjyoti Dey and his mother from Dawki and Cherrapunjee Road. The police sent the body parts to the GMCH for DNA and other tests.

According to the police, Amarjyoti was living in his father’s apartment. Sankari Dey, Amarjyoti’s mother, had an apartment called Jogomaya at House No. 6, Chitraban Path, at Zoo Road Tiniali. Sankari Dey and her family owned land in Lal Ganesh. Sankari Dey owned five flats, the rent for which was deposited into her bank account.
