GUWAHATI: The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) will organize the Shilpgram Mahotsav-2021 from February 18-21 at the Shilpgram Complex here.

This year, the NEZCC is inviting artistes and craftpersons from all the North Eastern States. Approximately 27 artistes and craftpersons each (folk dance cultural troupes consisting 15 artistes, folk song/music groups consisting 10 artistes and two craftpersons) from seven North Eastern States besides local cultural troupes and popular singers from Assam are expected to take part in the event.

To avoid large gathering of artistes at the complex, as per COVID-19 protocols, the cultural troupes are divided into two groups. In the first two days of the programme, cultural troupes from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya and Mizoram will present their folk dances and songs. On the last two days of the programme, artistes from Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura will perform.

Local groups from Assam will participate in all the four days. Exhibition-cum-sale of handloom and handicrafts will also be held in all the four days.

Another added attraction of the Shilpgram Mahotsav-2021 is the folk dance competition of the local groups. The folk dance competition will be held in the first three days and the winners will perform during the closing ceremony, stated a release.
