GUWAHATI: The NFR, which operates in the entire north-eastern region and in some parts of Bihar and West Bengal, has cancelled all 16 Bengal-bound trains on Monday due to agitations in various stations in the State against the new Citizenship Amendment Act, officials said.

Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda said that all the trains going from NFR towards Eastern Railway have been cancelled till the situation improves in West Bengal.

“Due to agitations in various stations in West Bengal and huge damages done to the railway properties, the 16 passenger carrying trains have been cancelled. Damages caused are being assessed and restoration work for normal train movement is underway,” Chanda said in an official release.

He said that Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express and Agartala-Bangalore Humsafar Express would also remain cancelled on December 17 as both the express trains pass through West Bengal. (IANS)
