Niren Barua memorial recitation competition to be held on November 24

GUWAHATI: New Art Players (NAP) - a leading socio-cultural organization of the state - is organizing a recitation competition on November 24 at its own cultural complex located behind Kamrup Academy HS School (near Ambari Traffic Rotary).

NAP is organizing this competition every year in fond memory of one of the senior most member, a renowned actor-director of stage, radio, film and television media and popular Assamese news reader of All India Radio with a golden voice late Niren Barua.

Each competitor will require to recite a self-selected Assamese poem within 5 minutes and the eligibility criteria for the competitors have been fixed at a minimum of 16 years. Besides cash awards of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 to the best three competitors, there shall be permanent trophies and certificates of appreciation too. The last date for joining this competition is November 23, 2022, a press release said.
