GUWAHATI: Education Minister Ranoj Pegu took to Twitter to say, “No candidates from other states of India have been selected for appointment under elementary education in Assam. There are about 500 candidates from Assam who obtained their qualifications from outside states. The director had summoned them for verification of documents. The outcome will be reflected in the final merit list.”
In regards to this, various organizations have demanded that no outsiders be appointed under the elementary education system in Assam. Talking to the media, Pegu said this recruitment process was done online. And there are many candidates who have completed their education at outside universities. There was a verification process for the candidates who had applied for the posts. On verification, there were many students who were from outside universities, but some of them were not present during the verification process.
He further said, “We will not be recruiting candidates who are from outside universities. Also, there was this one condition on the recruitment process: if the candidates get appointed, they have to qualify the TET in L1 languages (i.e., Assamese, Bengali, and Bodo), and if they qualify the CTET, their L1 language should be English and their L2 language should be Assamese. These criteria are required for recruitment.”
Pegu has announced that HSLC and HS results will be announced in the month of May.
