GUWAHATI: The Journalists' Union of Assam (JUA)
submitted a memorandum to the General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway
(NFR), Anshul Gupta, on Saturday with various demands on behalf of the journalist
fraternity.
Receiving the memorandum from JUA working president Samim Sultana Ahmed and treasurer Sushmita Goswami, Gupta assured them of fulfilling the demands at the earliest.
He said the demands raised by the JUA are legitimate and will be assessed swiftly. He asked his officials to do the needful immediately.
Among the demands in the four-point memorandum is providing facilities for application and collection of railway concession cards meant for accredited journalists at all important railway stations across the Northeast.
It was further urged to exempt car parking fees for journalists at all railway stations and to open a computerized railway ticket booking counter at the Gauhati Press Club premises. The JUA also urged the NFR to conduct press tours for journalists of the State to apprise the developmental activities of the Railway ministry, a press release said.
