GUWAHATI: With a view to improving the freight transportation and providing better customer interface, Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway took several initiatives during the month of January, 2022. The initiatives include opening of stations for handling of both outward and inward goods traffic, stated a press release.

To improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, the Jatinga Lampur station under Lumding Division has been opened for booking of outward goods traffic for a period of three months from January 3, except for coal, POL, livestock, explosives and crane consignments.

Moreover, Rangapani and Jalpaiguri stations under Katihar Division; Binnaguri, Falakata, Damdim and New Mal Junction stations under Alipurduar Division; Baihata, Udalguri and Biswanath Chariali stations under Rangiya Division; Ambassa, Badarpur, Borpathar, Belonia, Bokajan, Dimapur, Hojai, Jagiroad, Lalabazar, Naojan, New Haflong, Sabroom, Senchoa and Sribar stations under Lumding Division; and Bhojo, Charali, Lakwa and Tuli stations under Tinsukia Division have been opened for handling of both outward and inward goods traffic from January 3. However, coal, POL, live stock, explosives and crane consignments have not been allowed to book in Baihata, Jagiroad, Lakwa and Tuli stations.

Similarly, handling of coal traffic has been permitted in Jagiroad station under Lumding Division (for both outward and inward), Baihata station under Rangiya Division (for outward), Lakwa and Tuli stations under Tinsukia Division (for outward).
