NSUI to identify new leaders, start campaign

GUWHATI: AICC secretary and national NSUI in-charge Ruchi Gupta said on Sunday that it would start a campaign in the country to search young and talented leaders who can raise local or regional issues at the national level. Addressing the gathering at an interactive programme titled ‘Samadhan’ (Solution) at Satyanath Bora Hall convened by Kamrup (M) NSUI, national NSUI leader Ruchi Gupta said that the meeting was organized to give pace to the campaign.

Gupta questioned, “Do you think that students shouldn’t raise issues in a country that has over 50% population under the age of 25?” She said, “It’s the role of students to talk about where the country is heading in decisions that have been taken by the country. Hence, we want to start a campaign through the NSUI. We’ll take 119 universities all over the country. In Assam we’ve taken Cotton University, Gauhati University, Assam University and Dibrugarh University. I’ll meet the students personally to identify new leaders for the NSUI, and to identify the issues so that we can take them up to the national level through the NSUI.” Former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi said, “The main objective of this interaction programme was that All India NSUI wants to interact with the youths to make them aware of the Congress’ ideology as the young generation is going to be the future leaders of the country.”
