GUWAHATI: A one-day workshop on Foundation Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and G-20 was inaugurated by State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu at the Assam Administrative Staff College on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the workshop, the minister said that education plays an important role in nation building. He said, “We must provide quality education to every student from the primary level to make them knowledgeable citizens who will contribute to the development and progress of our country.”
He added that research of knowledge has been going on in the country since ancient times. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our country is moving towards becoming a world leader,” he said.
Dr Pegu further said that Nipun Axom was a part of the Nipun Bharat Mission, which aims to achieve FLN goals among students. He also asked the teachers to create a beautiful environment to attract students in the schools. The minister asked the departmental officers to laud the good and innovative work of the teachers working in various schools and to inspire them to move forward.
The event was attended by Dr Om Prakash, Director, Samagra Shiksha Assam, Narayan Konwar, Secretary, School Education Department, and various officers of the education department, teachers and students.
