GUWAHATI: Mission Flood Free initiated by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) last year has shown a sluggish progress, and only 30% of it has been achieved till now. It was expected that about 60% would have been accomplished by this time. Road construction and repairing works are also very slow in the city although PWD has undertaken these works.
Pipeline installment is undertaken by JICA, which is expected to be completed before the rainy season. But construction works going on in areas like Bhaskar Nagar show great concern. The inhabitants have also lodged a complaint to the GMC for rapid progress.
In this regard, a PWD official informed that he will be going to the areas for observation. And GMC will begin the works in full swing once the allotted funds are released.
