GUWAHATI: Personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Thursday arrested four persons from the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express at the Guwahati Railway Station after recovering 10.11 kg of opium from their possession.

GPF sources said that the market value of the seized opium is around Rs 10 crore. The contraband item was being transported from Dimapur in Nagaland to Howrah in West Bengal.

The sources identified the arrested persons as Sujiot Kumar (28) of Motihari in Bihar, Nitesh Kumar (23) of Sheohar in Bihar, Naina Devi (45) of Sheohar in Bihar and Durga Devi (23) of Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

A case (No 102/22 under Section 17(c)/29 of the NDPS Act) has been registered in this connection at the GRP Police Station, Guwahati, the sources added.
