Guwahati: As many as 78,180 voters would be exercising their franchise in the upcoming election of Tiwa Autonomous Council.
Council election is scheduled to be held on 17th December.
Voting will take place in 6 constituencies- Digmoria, Digaru, Ampri, Sonapur, Khetri and Phong Ari.
The polling will begin sharp at 7:30 am and end at 4:30pm.
In case of a re-poll, it will be conducted on 18th December and the counting of the votes will be on 19th December from 8 am onwards.
A total number of 100 polling stations have been allocated, Deputy Commisioner of Kamrup Metro, Biswajit Pegu said.
The constituency of Sonapur has the highest number of voters with 17,304. Nominations filling would take place on 25th November and the list of candidates will be out on 28th November.
The number of female voters surpassed the number of male voters- female voters are 39,820 and male voters are 38,368.
Chinmoy Nath, ADC of Kamrup Metro announced the policies for campaigning where the Election Commission will strictly follow the COVID-19 guidelines.
The Tiwa Autonomous Council election is going to be conducted in Kamrup Metro for the first time.
