GUWAHATI: Panic gripped the citizens of Guwahati after five more corona cases surfaced out of which one succumbed to death. Currently, Guwahati has been classified as a green zone; thus, there has been some relaxation in the lockdown.

After the news of four new positive cases, citizens reacted and expressed their views while talking to The Sentinel.

S. Saha, a government servant, stated that the decision to bring back stranded people from various parts of the country was premature. "The corona situation in the State may worsen after lakhs of people who are stranded outside the State are transported back. Once they arrive, these people should be quarantined for at least 28 days and the administration should monitor their movement," said Saha.

Atikur Zaman, a teacher, said that there is no need to blame the government or the people for the rise in corona cases. "The people are following the lockdown norms and are out of their houses because the lockdown has been relaxed. I don't think that anybody is loitering on the streets without any reason. If the city buses are crowded as shown in the new channels, it means that the numbers of buses is less. If the city is classified as orange zone than the people will come out of their houses according to those guidelines," Zaman asserted.

An e-rickshaw driver named Biplab Bora said that he had no income for 40 days during which his entire savings was spent. "I am driving the rickshaw by keeping all the necessary preventive measures in mind. If the city comes under red zone then our lives will be in jeopardy again. Every person should keep themselves safe and consult with the doctor if any health issue occurs," said Bora.

Another citizen named Ranjit Boruah said that people should only be restricted to their areas while buying essential commodities. "I saw in a news report that the corona situation in the country will become worse by the month of June. Currently, we should welcome the government's decision so that situation does not become worse," Boruah added.
