GUWAHATI: The first phase of the Gunotsav-2022 covering 11 districts concluded today. It began on May 11 with the self-evaluation. The external evaluation took place on May 12, 13 and 14.
The 11 districts covered in this phase are Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Karimganj, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon and Nalbari.
The Assam State Primary Teachers' Association (ASPTA) alleged that the evaluation began amid anomalies. The ASPTA alleged that the authorities used the question paper meant for Class V for self-evaluation for the students of classes VI, VII and IX. The number of question papers was also less than the requirement. Spelling errors littered the question papers meant for the Bengali medium schools, the ASPTA alleged.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also visited Ghorabondha Junior Basic School and BJ Girls' Junior Basic School at Sipajhar in the Darrang district on May 11. Other ministers and top officials visited various schools during the evaluation process.
Gunotsav will cover 46,251 schools, including 45,825 government/ provincialized elementary and high schools and 426 tea garden management schools. As many as 42,51,524 students from Class I to Class IX will participate in the educational exercise. 18,752 External Evaluators (EEs) are to complete the evaluation process in the remaining two phases.
Similarly, self-evaluation in the second phase will now be in the Barpeta, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Morigaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara-Mankachar, Tinsukia and Udalguri districts on May 23. The external evaluation will be on May 24, May 25 and May 26. The self-evaluation in the third phase will be in the Baksa, Cachar, Chirang, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Jorhat, Kamrup (Metro), Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and West Karbi Anglong districts on June 1. The external evaluation will be on June 2, June 3 and June 4.
