GUWAHATI: A five-day-long photo exhibition on 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to celebrate the 75 years of India's Independence, organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Guwahati under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, came to an end at Assam Engineering Institute (AEI) playground in Chandmari here on Sunday in presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal.

Sonowal appreciated the initiative taken by CBC, Guwahati for mounting exhibitions on unsung heroes of India's freedom struggle.

Sonowal asserted that this exhibition will be a memorable initiative as India is marching towards its centenary celebration of Independence. He urged everyone to achieve the aim of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Addressing the students at the closing ceremony, Sonowal talked about the upcoming Pariksha Pe Charcha and said that this noble initiative by the Prime Minister is aimed at helping the students to deal with exam anxiety and urged the students to read the 'Exam Warriors' by the Prime Minister.

While addressing the gathering, Director General, North East Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting B Narayanan (IIS), said that CBC, Guwahati, aimed to highlight the unsung heroes of India's freedom struggle through this exhibition and it will shed light on the lives of the freedom fighters from the Northeastern part of the country.

Hitesh Tahbildar, Principal of the Assam Engineering Institute, and Pavni Gupta, Deputy Director of PIB, Guwahati were also present at the closing ceremony.

During the five days of cultural programmes, folk songs and folk dances depicting the culture and tradition of Assam and the other parts of the North-East were presented by the artistes of CBC, Guwahati. Apart from this, prizes were also distributed to the winners of dance, painting, and quiz competition organized during the five-day event.

It may be mentioned that the photo exhibition was inaugurated by the Governor of Assam, Prof Jagdish Mukhi on January 18. The exhibition portrayed the sacrifices of the brave freedom fighters of the North-East and their contribution to the freedom movement.
