PIL on Assam flood: Gauhati High Court asks petitioner to suggest solution

GUWAHATI: A PIL (46/2022) was filed by an advocate named Sandeep Chamaria on June 27, 2022 in Gauhati High Court regarding the flood problem of Assam.

The matter was taken up by the division bench of the high court on Monday. The Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court, appreciated the efforts of Sandeep Chamaria for raising such an important issue and after hearing also, gave the responsibility to Chamaria to suggest the necessary measures /solution for Assam flood.

Chamaria through his petition sought steps to be taken for a permanent solution to the flood problem by implementing various water management schemes so that the next generation can be saved from this disaster; implemention of various government schemes for rehabilitation of the flood-affected people of Assam; reconstruction of all broken embankments immediately to save the people who are living near the overflowing rivers; declaration of Assam flood as a national disaster by the Central Government; and steps for a solution to the artifical flood problem in Guwahati city.
