GUWAHATI: MP Gaurav Gogoi has alleged that the Prime Minister has painted a rosy dream but skipped the burning problems afflicting the State during his speech at Dhekiajuli.
Addressing the media at Rajiv Bhawan here on Sunday, Gaurav Gogoi said, "I did hope that the Prime Minister would analyse the problems of Assam and suggest measures for their solutions. He, however, skipped all problems afflicting the State.
"Unemployment in the State is a burning problem. I hoped he would raise corruption and syndicates being run in the State. He kept mum on such issues.
"Modi came to power with the promise of providing employment opportunities to two crore people in the country. However, the reality remains that during his tenure as the Prime Minister the number of unemployed in the country swelled.
"This government stopped the Northeast Investment Policy. Has the move increased investment in the region? The Assam government held Advantage Assam. How many indigenous youth of the State got jobs because of outside investment in the State?
"What has taken place next is handing over of resources of the State like tea gardens and the LGBI (Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International) Airport to Gujratis. As though, there is a Gujrati government ruling in Assam, not of the BJP.
"The Prime Minister did chant the slogan – na khaunga, na khane dunga. However, in Assam corruption and syndicate raj spurt during the BJP's tenure. The schemes like Arunodoi, PM Kishan etc named by the Prime Minister in today's speech have been badly ridden with corruption. "SI (sub-inspector) recruitment scam, P&RD appointment scam, coal syndicate, cattle syndicate etc., are going on in the State."
