Police seize drugs & mobile handsets in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A team of East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from Dispur Police Station seized 1.10 kg of cannabis from the house of Niranjan Timung in the Hengrabari area in the city today. The police arrested Timung, who identified himself as the owner of a brick kiln.

A team of West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) from Gorchuk Police Station seized 10 vials of heroin from Lal Miyan of Chhaygaon from the Damra Chowk in the Boragaon area today. The police arrested Lal Miyan. In yet another incident, a Central Guwahati Police District team from Fancy Bazar Outpost arrested two mobile thieves – Soru Ali and Rafiq Ali – and two others who bought mobile phones – Saddam Hussain and Sukumuddin – in Fancy Bazar today. The police recovered five smartphones and Rs 21,000 from them.
