GUWAHATI: A memorial lecture was organized by the Pragjyotish College Teachers' Unit (PCTU) to celebrate the college's 67th College Foundation Day.
The college flag was hoisted by the Dr Manoj Mahanta, Principal and floral tributes were offered by Dr Jagadindra Ray Choudhury, president, Governing Body at the bust of Pandit Tirthanath Sarma, founder Principal of the college. To mark the occasion the college anthem, was released by the President, GB.
"A good academician is one who understands the present time. One feels some sort of a natural experiment is going on because of the forces of nature, which we have sought to neglect" stated Professor Vinay Srivastava, Director of Anthropological Survey of India at the 24thPandit Tirthanath Sarma Memorial Lecture organized online by the PCTU.
He further stated that "There is criticism of anthropocentricism, where human beings are center of everything and the idea of omnicentricism is gaining ground where animals, birds and plants are given due importance".
The lecture was organized in the hallowed memory of the founder Principal of Pragjyotish, who was both an academician and an eminent litterateur of yesteryear. The topic of the annually organized lecture was 'A Panorama of Pandemics' in which Professor Srivastava dealt with a phlethora of information about the pandemic.
