GUWAHATI: A woman from Tinsukia visited the office of the Director General of Police, Assam (DGP) with her 3-year-old child to request proper action by the Assam Police to recover her ‘missing’ husband.

Pranjal Moran, a resident of Hokani village in the Tinsukia district, had left home on January 6 to work on a coal mining project in Ledo. His wife, Urvashi Moran said that he had gone missing on February 1 and she was informed on February 2 that he had died in an accident and his body could not be recovered. Following this development, she lodged an FIR with the Ledo Police Station on February 4. But she alleged that the police had not taken any action regarding her complaint. She had earlier protested at Chachal in Guwahati but that too did now yield the desired result, leaving her with no other option but to visit the office of the DGP on Tuesday along with their 3-year-old child. She was reportedly offered compensation of Rs 5 lakh by the coal trader, which she had denied.

Urvashi has demanded that the authorities should hand over her husband’s body if he is dead.
